International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
The International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS) is the largest global professional organisation representing the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery. From its founding in 1962, the IAOMS has been a friendly community of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, bound together by a common enthusiasm for the well-being of their patients and the advancement of their specialty.
IAOMS has a rich conferencing history meeting every two years in cities around the world. In 2015, Melbourne has been selected to host the international maxillofacial community as they come to participate in the 22nd International Conference www.iaoms.org.
The Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
The Australian and New Zealand Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (ANZAOMS) is the professional representative organization for the specialty in Australia and New Zealand and has approximately 200 members. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are surgical specialists who treat conditions, defects, injuries, and aesthetic aspects of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face. They care for patients who have problem wisdom teeth, facial pain, and misaligned jaws. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons also treat accident victims suffering facial injuries, offer reconstructive and dental implant surgery, and care for patients with tumours and cysts of the jaws.
